Homemade Christmas Gift Ideas that Friends and Family Will Love

Christmas is coming and if you want to get people gifts that are a little more personal and that you have made yourself, here are a few ideas that might help you to get started this Christmas…

A Christmas Scarf or Blanket – Something that always goes down well at Christmas is something cosy to fight the winter chill. Get a knitting kit and get stuck into making a few things to give as gifts. If there is a young baby in the family, a little home made jumper always goes down well, and blankets are always going to be appreciated.

Jams and Preserves – During autumn start harvesting the bounty of the berries in the hedgerows – from hawes to blackberries this is the time to get started with making those sweet jams and preserves. They are a great gift to give at Christmas and you can decorate and personalise the jars to each recipient.

Favours and Promises – Something that many of us overlook is how important quality time is. If you don’t have a lot of money, don’t think that you can’t give anything. In fact, for some people the gift of time or help is most precious. Offering something like an evening babysitting to stressed out parents, or to do some garden jobs for someone who is really busy is a great gift that costs nothing but goes a long way.

Home Made Bath Bombs – Something that is great fun to make as well as fairly cheap is a homemade bath bomb! You can decorate them accordingly and this is something that kids will likely enjoy doing with you too.

Christmas Biscuits – Something that we all look forward to at this time of the year is the sweet treats that are around, and nothing beats homemade Christmas biscuits. Gingerbread of course is a traditional warming favourite, but you can be as adventurous as you like with your recipes and tailor them to the people you are giving them to.

Festive Drinks – Something else that we enjoy during the festive season are the tasty alcoholic beverages that are all around. Making your own is fairly easy, whether you want to make some mulled wine, or you might want to try your hand at making that winter favourite, sloe gin.
