What is an Emergency First Responder?

One of the most important questions to answer when considering becoming a first responder is, what is an emergency first responder and how does one go about becoming one. The basic definition of an emergency response team is a response to an emergency call by a fire department, the police or another emergency response company, within minutes of the caller’s call.

Emergency response teams respond to all types of emergencies. Depending on the type of emergency response team that is being called up, their job duties may vary. An emergency first responder is often the first to arrive on the scene of an emergency. They drive smaller vehicles and can often reach a destination in a shorter time than an ambulance but are still equipped with medical supplies. If you are living in a large metropolitan area, especially one with a wide geographical coverage, it can be a lifesaver to have an emergency first responder arrive on scene within minutes of a call.
