Check Regulatory Alignment
Make sure that any online compliance training that you consider aligns with the appropriate regulations for your industry, such as FCA, ICO, HSE etc. Make sure you find out which regulations the online training courses cover and when the content was last updated. This should not just include a list of all the compliance topics that they cover in a vague manner.
Look for Proper Completion Records
Finally, solid evidence of completion of specific named modules on specific dates will be required. Verify that full downloadable reports are available showing specific completion dates by named individuals (not summaries as displayed on a dashboard). What does effective workplace training look like?
Favour Scenario-Based Content
Most passive video followed by a weak multiple choice test does not change behaviour. Look for content that places learners in realistic scenarios to apply rules rather than simply test to recall.
Ask About Content Update Schedules
Do the compliance elearning courses update quickly enough after a change in the relevant regulations? Are updates to the compliance elearning courses included in the overall contract or are they charged as additional items?
Confirm Device and Access Compatibility
Design to be accessed on mobile devices by staff on shift and remotely (without requiring a company login system or fast broadband connection).
